India’s Himalaya Wellness Will Build an AED120 Million Herbal Plant in Dubai Industrial City

Medicinal herbs have been used for many purposes since the beginning of time. Not only for food but also for fighting diseases, fungi, and insects. Now, medicinal plants have become one of the most important products produced by drug companies. They are also more trusted and liked by the public than other types of medications. One of the most famous of these companies is Himalaya, a multinational pharmaceutical company. It produces health care products under the name Himalaya Herbal Healthcare.

Himalaya is known to operate ‘seed-to-shelf’, which means they grow organic herbs free of pesticides and insecticides. It first established its presence in the UAE in 2000 then, established a research and development center “Himalaya Global Research Center” in 2013.

The good news is that the Indian pharmaceutical company has said that it will open a Dh120 million herbal medicine factory in Dubai Industrial City. It will be the first of three facilities to be built in Dubai Industrial City and will cover an area of 760,000 square feet.

Building the plant will follow the highest standards recognized by the WHO, the US FDA, and the European Medicine Agency’s standards. Following the pharmaceutical plant, they will build special units for Personal care products and Functional foods.

Accordingly, Himalaya Herbal Healthcare will create hundreds of specialized jobs and export medicines to more than 100 countries. The company aims to produce 3 billion tablets, 15 million bottles of syrup, and 3 million units of ointment each year.

Why The UAE?

UAE has been the cornerstone of Himalaya’s global success, and this partnership with Dubai Industrial City shall further reinforce our global strategy,” said Shailendra Malhotra, Global CEO, Himalaya Wellness.
