, Snapchat Took Up the Challenge and Launched A New Feature “Spotlight”

The competition between social networks continues. It is Snapchat’s turn to introduce something new by launching a competitor to Tiktok and Instagram Reels!

Snapchat has finally announced the launch of a new feature called “Spotlight” the looks like the reels in Tiktok and Instagram.

What Does It Look Like?

The Spotlight feature will show the users snaps displayed by video creators and Tiktok videos continue to keep repeating until the user swipes to see another video.

This feature will allow the users to have access and watch endless videos produced by others rather than being limited to videos by friends and the app’s Discover feature.

Users that are 16 or older are going to get a payout based on the number of views compared to the other highly viewed videos. Spotlight will not contain ads in the beginning, but we are waiting for it. Our challenge will be how to create appealing and compelling ads to keep the brand on top of mind while users are amused and happy with it.

Where Did the Idea Come From?

The idea was first introduced in 2013 by Vine that was owned by Twitter. Failed to keep up due to the tough competition with other social media networks that kept adding more features and stealing the show. This has led to the shut down in 2017. In the same year, Bytedance acquired Musical.ly. Bytedance then merged Musical.ly with Tiktok in 2018. And then just recently Instagram added reels to its features.
